TriArts Sharon Playhouse is thrilled to announce our 2012 season auditions. The exciting 2012 Season lineup includes The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (rehearses: June 12-28, performances: June 28-July 15), Altar Boyz (rehearses: July 3-20, performances: July 20-29), The Sound of Music (rehearses: July 17-August 9, performances: August 9-25) and Divas Do the 40s! (rehearses May 1-June 8, performances: June 8-10).
All roles are available for all shows. We are seeking men, women and children (ages 8 and up) to be a part of TriArts' unique blend of professional and community performers, working with professional directors, choreographers, musical directors, musicians, and designers.
According to Artistic Director Michael Berkeley, "We encourage anyone who has ever yearned to experience the excitement of standing side by side with professional actors in a professional production to come by and audition. We always strive to make the audition experience as friendly and comfortable as possible."
Auditions in Connecticut will take place on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11, by appointment. Visit TriArts' website at www.triarts.net for more audition information and cast breakdowns. Email audrey@triarts.net for audition appointments.
TriArts and NYU
TriArts Sharon Playhouse has partnered with NYU Steinhardt on a program that will allow current college students from universities across the country to earn credit for their performance in a production on the TriArts stage!
TriArts has designated a limited number of "college positions" for their summer season. At auditions (or during the headshot/ resume submissions), any current college student can indicate their interest in being considered for this program. Perform on the TriArts stage AND earn academic credit from NYU? That's a no- brainer!

Behind the Seams…
Artistic Director John Simpkins persuaded Costume Designer Michelle Humphrey and a crew consisting of Ashley Sweetman, Rose Bisogno, Seth Eliser and Matthew Roscoe to come up and help sort out the costume shop, the props garage, and the loft in Bok Gallery over the past two days. It was a job sorely overdue and it became something of a treasure hunt. They sorted, organized, and cleared out all those spaces, donating their time, energy and good spirit to the job. Michelle was amazed at some of the wonderful costume period pieces we have, that somehow managed to get buried over the years.
Now while most of you who are reading this don't come to TriArts to see our props department or visit the costume shop, rest assured that their hard work will indirectly benefit everyone who takes a seat in our theatre. Theatre magic, what you get to see on our stage, doesn't happen on its own accord. Thanks to the spirited effort of this wonderful group, led by John the indomitable, it will be just a little easier to bring our shows to life this coming summer, and for seasons to come. John, Michelle, Ashley, Rose, Seth and Matthew, take a bow ~ TriArts applauds you!
TriArts is also offering 2 Audition Workshops, conducted by Michael Berkeley, to help both children and adults to prepare for their auditions.
Two workshops are available on Saturday, January 28; from 12-2 pm for children ages 8-13, and from 3-5 pm for adults and high school students. The workshop fee is $20 – reservations may be made by contacting audrey@triarts.net.
The workshops will provide valuable audition tips, including song selection and tricks to combat audition fears and participants will have the opportunity to try out an audition song.
For more information about the Audition Workshops and auditions for the 2012 Season, email audrey@triarts.net or call 860-364-SHOW X 100.
