The final summer production at TriArts Sharon Playhouse is celebrating a decade of Divadom with DIVAS DO IT ALL! this weekend only.
The DIVA production has become an annual favorite that began ten years ago with an idea by Artistic Director Michael Berkeley who was looking for a way to feature the abundant female talent that he has discovered over the years.
"We simply did not have enough parts in our season to go around and that meant leaving out a lot of talented women. I decided to create a show that would feature all this talent in one production." So began the DIVA series. The first show was billed as "Night of A 100 Divas" It was so popular that it became an annual staple, followed by 2001: A Diva Odyssey, Divas Do Hollywood, Divas Do Broadway, Divas Do the Sixties, Divas Do Divas, and more.

Wanda Houston (Hello Dolly, Ain’t Misbehavin’), andGlenda Lauten (Full Monty, Pajama Game, Chicago, and more) will be among the many talented diva headliners. Others include TriArts Youtheatre Director / Choreographer Heather Holohan (Aida, Will Rogers Follies, A Chorus Line) who will be tapping up a storm as Ann Miller. Regina Albertario who played lead Gabriella in Disney’s High School Musical 2 returns to the TriArts stage. Also, favorite divas Lori Belter, Pat Best, Cory Ann Fasano-Paff, Debra Buslik, Maria Hickey, Janette Dubray and many others. The show, a fast-paced variety show will feature an onstage combo (bass, guitar, drums and Berkeley at the keyboard). There are some VERY entertaining surprises in store.
"If you are known by a first name alone you qualify as a legendary diva," explains Berkeley, who this year will be offering the likes of Liza, Bette, Judy, Barbra and Dolly --all brought to life by the TriArts divas. Executive Director Alice Bemand said: "This is always an eagerly anticipated show because of the many talented women and because it is unique to TriArts. You never know what you're going to get because it is an original show, but you know it is going to be great with Michael Berkeley at the helm."
The show runs for one weekend only, Aug. 28th (8pm), 29th (8pm) and 30th (5pm). Divas don’t do matinees! Tickets are $30 standard and $44 premium (front and center). They go fast and this is a performance you won’t want to miss.
Fun Fact: There are no matinees of Divas Do It All. Why not? Divas never get up before noon!
