Gordon Heyworth
TriArts Mourns the Loss of a Dear Friend - Gordon Heyworth
TriArts mourns the loss of a dear friend. Gordon Heyworth, invaluable to TriArts as a Board member, teacher, administrator, actor, and theatre lover, passed away on December 31, 2008 at the age of 76.
As a young man, Gordon attended Torrington High School and the Parsons School of Drama in Hartford, CT. After a stint in the Army, he returned to the United States and received his B.A. in English from Columbia University. In 1963, Gordon arrived at Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, CT to teach English and Drama, where he taught for 32 years -- and where he directed many musicals, giving aspiring Thespians their wings. As an actor, Gordon appeared at the Sharon Playhouse during the SCAF years. His favorite roles included: Pseudolus in Forum, the King in The King and I, Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof, and the Captain in The Sound Of Music.
When TriArts moved from Pine Plains to the Sharon Playhouse in 1999, Gordon, serving as General Manager, worked tirelessly to help ease us into our new home. Since then, he continued contributing to TriArts in a variety of ways, including inspiring actors with his acting workshops and performing in many productions. He was quite the trouper with a wonderful sense of humor. (When asked by Michael Berkeley to play the role of Mother Burnside in MAME, he accepted without hesitation and was hysterical!) Gordon will always be a loved member of the TriArts family. We will miss him.

Go On With the Show
Yes, we are facing challenging times. But it is precisely at times like these that theater matters most. Through two World Wars and the Great Depression, people sang musical theater’s songs of hope, spirit and optimism. Theater is an essential part of the American culture--at the best of times, but especially at the worst of times, there is “no business like show business”.
TriArts provides something we can all be proud of—in the theater community and in our community. Now, more than ever, please help us “go on with the show.” Won’t you consider making your tax-deductible donation to TriArts today? Even $5 or $10 can make a difference. Be part of the magic.
Just click here, and help us keep the magic going. Every gift makes a difference.
With deep thanks and appreciation, your friends at TriArts.
