“Did you hear who was cast at TriArts?”

Casting News

“Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow that talent….”
— Erica Jong

TriArts thanks all of you who auditioned for your courage and your talent. The initial cast list for the summer season has been posted on our website.  Artistic Director Michael Berkeley, and the seasonal Directors continue to be amazed at the quality and wealth of talent in our area.  For this reason casting has taken even longer than usual and finalizing decisions was tough going. Thank you for being so good, that you made it really tough on us!

If you were not cast, we thank you for your time and we sincerely hope to see you at our next auditions.  For those who have been cast, congratulations, and please contact us via email at info@triarts.net to confirm that you accept the role.

We are seeing additional men (only) on Sunday March 30th in the Bok Gallery so if you haven't auditioned there is still an opportunity — singing and non-singing male roles are available for all shows. If you know someone between 18 and 60 who may be interested please help us spread the word. Again, thanks to all!

Rip Van Winkle
Re-Awakens!

Rip Van Winkle at Pine Plains)

An original musical based on Washington Irving’s “Rip Van Winkle” comes to life again with a new, leaner version of the musical first presented at TriArts in 1994 in Pine Plains.  Rip Van Winkle, A Musical Legend, with music and lyrics by Artistic Director Michael Berkeley and a book by Ray Roderick and Michael Berkeley, is based on Washington Irving’s story of the man who fell asleep for 20 years in the Catskill Mountains.

With a cast of twenty, the musical will be presented as a reading for the Bryan L. Knapp New Works series in TriArts’ Bok Gallery on Saturday April 5th at 5pm  and Sunday April 6th at 2 pm. There is no charge for admission, but reservations are recommended due to limited seating.

Funny, stirring, and loaded with heart, this rollicking trip back to the Colonial 1770’s features a wealth of interesting characters from blacksmiths to gnomes! In the middle of it all is the legendary Rip Van Winkle, who heads off to the mountains and encounters gnomes drinking ale and playing at nine-pins. He falls asleep and returns a much-changed home 20 years later.
