Sharon-A glance around Western Connecticut will confirm that it has more than its share of talent-singers, songwriters, dancers, artists, writers and more all call it home. Many of these professionals have come to the Northwest Corner after making their names and their fortunes in cities around the world, but once here, some are generous enough to lend a helping hand to new talent that is just budding. That some of that young talent is amazing will be amply demonstrated Memorial Day Weekend when TriArts in Sharon launches its new season with "Kids 2009!"

It’s never happened before at Lime Rock Park
During one long, beautiful Memorial Day weekend, 22-25 May, you can thrill to the sights and sounds of vintage Formula 1 cars, racing twice during the weekend; enjoy the fender-banging excitement of a huge field of Grand-Am’s KONI Challenge sports cars, the headline event; and watch some of the best open-wheel road racing North America has to offer, thanks to the Formula 2000 championship.
And here’s the kicker... For the first time, you can take it all in from Lime Rock’s latest innovation for the fans: an air-conditioned Lime Rock Park Fan Hospitality chalet, with one of the best views of the track. Food, drink, special guest appearances, VIP parking – the works, all for $125 (does not include race ticket).

It’s an experience as good, or even better, than even some of the best-funded race teams enjoy!
Time is, in fact, running out... We at Lime Rock Park know that everyone who asks you to purchase something wants you to “Act Now!” and “Call Today!”
But we’re not going to scream at you. We simply want to let you know that the discount you get by buying tickets in advance ends this Friday, 15 May at 5:00 p.m.
A Full Weekend ticket purchased in advance is $50 (after 15 May it’s $85), Saturday and Monday tickets are $25 each if purchased in advance (after 15 May they are $35 each day) and all tickets include parking and paddock access. Children 12 and under are free. Premier Fan Hospitality access is $125, with children 12 and under costing $30.

Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Theatre Lover,
Oscar Wilde said, "The stage is not merely the meeting place of all the arts, but is also the return of art to life." We agree wholeheartedly. Now’s the time, if there ever was one, to bring enrichment to our lives, to breathe a sigh of relief as we enjoy the magically relaxing diversion only the theater can offer.
I come face to face with theater’s life-giving gifts every day from my side of the stage. Take the students I speak to so often who are neither jocks nor nerds, nor are they among the few breathing the rarified air of the "popular.” Where do these kids belong? So often the answer is: right here at TriArts. After all, theatre has long been the salvation of independent, creative thinkers who don’t fit neatly into a box, whose talents are too often overlooked. The fortunate ones find a home at TriArts, where our need for acting, singing, dancing, music-making, set-painting, sewing costumes, are all invaluable outlets for creativity. Even operating a spotlight can give a teen confidence and self-esteem, as I’ve seen in my own family, offering a non-traditional learner an opportunity to—literally--shine.
This summer, more than ever, sees TriArts shining a light on our children. The season opens with Kids 2009!, and features 40 extraordinary kids from 20 towns in the tri-state area in a dazzling Broadway-style review. The performers range in age from 6 to 19, in an evening full of songs from all your favorite musicals including Hairspray, Fame, The Wedding Singer, Guys & Dolls, as well as hits of the 50's and 60's. Spend this Memorial Day weekend with the kids, at Kids 2009!
Our summer Youtheatre program features new workshops including Theatre Tech and One-Act Workshop, along with favorites like Theatre Rocks, and Stage Combat. The three-week Musical Theatre Performance Workshop culminates in a production of Annie Jr. on the main stage. The extended day, from 10am to 5pm, offers plenty of time for skills building as well as rehearsing. With one, two and three-week workshops appealing to all interests, there's sure to be one for your child.
Disney’s High School Musical 2 opens on our main stage on July 10th and runs for three weeks. Our original production of High School Musical broke all box office records two years ago. Tickets are selling fast for this fun follow-up with Troy, Gabriella, Ryan, Sharpay, and the rest of the gang. We're pleased about pulling kids away from video games, computers, cell phones, etc., and introducing them to joys of live theatre!
The Playhouse Stomp showcases the best of the area college and high school musicians, rocking the house on August 11th. We're sure you'll agree that there are just not enough venues for our kids to go to when they want to hear live music. So we are bringing bands like local favorites, lespecial, and the Dream Angels, recent winners of the Battle of Bands, along with others to the TriArts main stage. This is an alcohol-free night.
TriArts salutes our kids, after all they are the future of theatre and the arts. Won't you help us capture their imagination by taking advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that TriArts is making available to them?
Sincerely,
Alice Bemand
